Necromunda Brats by alfonsothetraitor

We start out with some more stuff from the awesome alfonsothetraitor, who has been working on a lot more that has nothing to do with Samurai. Here, we're having a look at some excellent old-school Necromunda figures that have been given a reintroduction to alfonsothetraitor's collection recently.

As alfonsothetraitor mentioned as part of their project, this is their original gang of Brats from back in the day. When the topic of Necromunda came up with an old friend, alfonsothetraitor was asked if they wanted back the miniatures. They replied with a resounding YES. And so, these miniatures have rejoined their collection.

The Brats were an awesome gang that you could play in your games of Necromunda, which was made up of the noble houses and their youths, heading down into the Underhive to try their hands at being adventurous heroes. I think it's awesome to see these old miniatures making their way into the collection of alfonsothetraitor, armed with all manner of quirky weapons that they've used their money to buy!

In the same theme, alfonsothetraitor also introduced another miniature into the mix in the form of Brakar the Avenger.

This miniature was an old named character that was tied to the Ratskins of Necromunda, sticking with the theme. Again, it's great to see that there are more of these old-school miniatures getting added back into the mix. You can actually see some more of the Ratskins that alfonsothetraitor has been working on over on the project above.

Speedpainting HeroQuest by thebelon

Next up, we're having a look at some painting of HeroQuest miniatures with thebelon and explore painting up the miniatures from the newer version of the game using those neat, new Speedpaint Markers from the folks at The Army Painter. I thought this was a great experiment in how these work.

Speedpaint HeroQuest #1 by thebelon

It turns out, colouring in your miniatures with these Speedpaint Markers was pretty darn quick and the miniatures were done "in the time it takes to listen to the new Paradise Lost album, then watch an episode of the real Ghostbusters, followed by an episode of Maid Marian and her merry men, then a single Time Team and two episodes of Blackadder." I like that that's the way to track time and should now be on the back of the box for how quickly you can use these pens.

Blocking in the colours worked really well and this is a great way to get these miniatures done and dusted for your games without having to spend endless hours perfecting them with a brush. Making use of the Speedpaint Markers like this also means that you could very easily get your younger gamers involved in the process of getting the miniatures they will use AND fight against ready for your games.

Speedpaint HeroQuest #3 by thebelon

The miniatures were finished off with a fifty-fifty wash of The Army Painter Strong Tone and water, plus a coat of Vallejo Ultra Matte Varnish. Done and dusted in no time at all. The final look of the figures is great and showcases the prime use of these markers for a lot of people. This was enough for me to head to Amazon and buy some of these for myself (Ben) as soon as I read the entry.

Grimdark Hex Tiles by lazagram

Last but not least, we're going to be having a look at what lazagram has been doing recently, including painting up some neat hex tiles in a Grimdark style. This was actually done for the September Painting Competition held in the forums here OnTableTop.

Grimdark Hex Tiles #1 by Lazagram

This set of hex tiles was done and dusted within the space of twenty-four hours using some quick and dirty methods to make them pop. I think they look bloody awesome and one of the nice things was that they were very fun to work on. I love it when a project doesn't feel like a chore and it's actually a fun experience at the painting table. We need more people to think like that.

Grimdark Hex Tiles #2 by Lazagram

lazagram has put together a good breakdown of how all of these tiles were painted and finished up for the painting competition over on the project. There is also a bit of UV resin used to make some of the pools for the reactors. Whilst this doesn't end up being perfect from lazagram's point of view, I think they look great.

If you like the look of these and want to dive in and get them for yourself, you can check out the files over on the project linked above. I think this would be great for those seeking to play big campaigns of Warhammer 40,000 and Necromunda if you wanted to go beyond the bounds of the central Hive City itself.
