Brunanburh: The Battle for Britain – Ragnarok’s Epic Kickstarter Live!
July 10, 2025 by avernos
Ragnarok Miniatures returns with its most ambitious project yet—Brunanburh: The Battle for Britain. This campaign recreates the legendary clash of 937 AD, where the fate of Britain hung in the balance with six full warbands and a full range of resin buildings.
Ragnarok 9 Brunanburh: The Battle for Britain
In this colossal conflict, the Anglo-Saxon armies of King Athelstan and his brother Edmund faced down the combined might of the Strathclyde Welsh, Scots, and Norse-Gaels near the fortified village of Brunanburh. The Anglo-Saxon Chronicles would later call it The Great Slaughter—and now, you can command its heroes and rewrite history on your tabletop.
Wessex 6-point Anglo-Saxon Warband
Uthred of Bebbanburg Army of Mercia
The Anglo-Saxon side is brought to life with two stunning 6-point Saga Warbands. Leading the Armies of Wessex is High King Athelstan, while the Armies of Mercia are commanded by Uthred of Bebbanburg. These warbands are packed with characterful sculpts and heroic poses worthy of the history they represent.
As a special bonus, backers who pledge for both warbands will receive a FREE unit of four mounted Anglo-Saxon Huscarls, representing the cavalry who cut down fleeing enemies after the shieldwalls broke.
The Celtic Alliance
Opposing the Anglo-Saxon might are the formidable forces of the Celtic Alliance, represented by three beautifully sculpted 4-point Saga Warbands: the Strathclyde Welsh, Scots, and Norse-Gaels recently arrived from Dublin. Each warband brings a distinct identity and combat style to the tabletop. Better yet, if you back all three Celtic warbands, you’ll receive a FREE 4-point Pict Warband—a new sculpting project by Colin, which will be completed after the campaign and shipped alongside your other rewards.
The West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village
In addition to the miniatures, the campaign also offers a range of historically authentic Anglo-Saxon buildings, each one a faithful replica of structures found in West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village in Suffolk, England. These hand-cast resin buildings are lightweight yet highly detailed, and each comes with three wattle fence sections and three random pieces of village clutter (barrels, sacks, chests, and more) to help build immersive dioramas.
For the dedicated hobbyist, the complete Village Set includes all eight buildings, 24 fences, 24 clutter pieces, and a massive bonus: 40 pieces of timber pallisade/stockade—perfect for transforming your peaceful hamlet into a fortified Burgh worthy of Brunanburh’s legend.
Pillage, Protect, and Recreate History
Whether you're assembling mighty warbands for Saga, staging cinematic battles for Pillage, or building your own historical settlement, Brunanburh: The Battle for Britain offers an exciting, beautifully crafted deep dive into one of Britain's most pivotal medieval moments. This campaign brings together premium miniatures, high-quality terrain, and smartly layered stretch goals for collectors and gamers alike.
Secure your warbands, build your burgh, and prepare to refight The Great Slaughter

If the previous Kickstarters are anything to go by this will be a good one. The quality of the sculpting is phenomenal. Not one for me, I’m still working through a couple of others that I went all in on. I might pick up the Picts when they hit retail though.
Lovely stuff.
My wallet is happy that one of these isn’t a Northumbrian force.
The prices are astonishingly good, for both the minis and the terrain. Can I resist? Do I want to resist?
Another lovely collection of minis from Ragnarok. I’m definitely in for the Scots, the question is can I sell a kidney quickly enough to justify the Celtic Alliance bundle?
I love the village especially. Too bad I don’t do KS.
they will be available through gripping beast later in the year
