Following quickly on the heels of the recent big box expansion for Halo: Flashpoint, featuring the Banished and the Jiralhane as part of Rise of the Banished, we're getting pre-orders for a new set that has been eagerly anticipated. The ODST are joining the fight alongside Spartan allies in Feet First Into Hell from Mantic Games.

Feet First Into Hell // Halo: Flashpoint

Feet First Into Hell will put you into the boots of the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (ODST) made famous in the spin-off game set just after the opening events of Halo 2. The fearsome Jiralhanae or Brutes, alongside their Covenant allies, were spreading throughout New Mombasa and it was up to the ODST to secure the city and complete their mission.

It was a big change from the main entries in the Halo franchise as you suddenly weren't some super soldier able to hold their own against countless waves of enemies!

Bridge Crossing // Halo: Flashpoint

This particular set comes with sixteen new miniatures representing the ODST with a variety of weapon loadouts and options. You'll also get the deluxe folding New Mombasa gaming board, which comes with suitable full-colour card terrain.

Jetpacks In Action // Halo: Flashpoint

There will also be a full set of faction-themed dice in the set alongside new unit, special order and weapon cards for you to use alongside the new gameplay expansion booklet. You'll also find all of the rules and components you need for deploying the ODST in games of Halo: Flashpoint.

As you can see, there are plenty of new weapon options for you to play with when the new set lands. I know a lot of people are fans of the ODST in the Halo franchise and it's great to see them entering the mix alongside the well-known Spartans, Elites, Brutes and more that we've already seen so far.

Feet First Into Hell - Expansion Contents // Halo: Flashpoint

As with Rise Of The Banished, you will need the original Recon or Spartan Starter Set to dive in but this gives you a big chunk of extra awesomeness to throw into your games of Halo: Flashpoint. As a bonus, there will also be limited edition miniatures of both Buck and Dare (Nathan Fillion and Tricia Helfer) from Halo 3: ODST that you can get as part of the pre-orders.

As Shay has pointed out in some of our chats, this is a great expansion for Halo: Flashpoint but it also lays the groundwork for more of the iconic characters of the Halo franchise to appear. We know Shay would love to see Noble Team from Halo: Reach make it to the tabletop. If Mantic are doing the ODST then it's surely not long before Noble Team pop up!
