Check Out Perry Miniatures’ New French Revolution Figures
August 6, 2025 by brennon
Perry Miniatures has released a new set of stunning French Revolution-era 28mm scale metal figures for use in your Historical wargames set during this period. You can now get your hands on miniatures representing the Vendéens and Chouans, counter-revolutionaries who rose up in 1793.
Vendéens & Chouans // Perry Miniatures
The fighting during this particular period of the French Revolution was bloody and fierce. If you're looking for a particular conflict to play out, you can use these for diving into The War in the Vendée, which was an insurrection which took place between 1793 and 1796. Whereas a lot of France was rallying against those in power, the Vendée became counter-revolutionary and royalist.

The counter-revolutionary clashes also align nicely with the second set of figures presented as part of this new range of releases. You can also get your hands on the Chouans based on the Chouannerie (named after the Chouan brothers who were leaders during this campaign).

This was another counter-revolution that railed against the First Republic during the French Revolution. It took place over three phases and lasted from 1794 through to 1800. Further uprisings happened throughout this period, running through 1795, 1799, 1815 and 1832.

You can see a mixture of different figures here from both of the conflicts mentioned but in total, you have eight sets of new 28mm figures for you to choose from. All of the new miniatures for both the Vendéens & Chouans can be found HERE on the Perry Miniatures website.
As well as being a great selection of miniatures for you to use in your Historical wargames based during the French Revolution, these could also be a superb range of figures to use with The Silver Bayonet by Osprey Games.
Let's Play: The Silver Bayonet | Osprey Games
The Silver Bayonet often calls for ragtag soldiers, drawn together to be hunters of folklore fiends and this set of figures would be perfect for that. As well as being part of your warband, you could also use these figures to represent civilians who have been dragged into the fighting. This marks this new release by Perry Miniatures as yet another handy set of figures for using in Historical wargames and Pulp/Fantasy ones!
Tell us in the comments what you make of the new Vendéens & Chouans...

I’m liking these. Normal people rising up. A nice break from all those shiny buttoned uniforms. I was going some research into anti revolution movements in the UK in the 1790s. Localy we had mobs attacking anyone who had thoughts about democracy. We don’t want revolutions here. I might get these minis to do something covering these incidents
Where is my guillotine model? Heads WILL roll! And also, cake shall be served.
Oddly enough the Perry’s did produce one when they were at Wargames Foundry. It’s under the code BSMOB001 Madame Guillotine.
I just love what the Perry ‘Bros’ are doing. I’m waiting for my delivery of the plastic Spanish Guerilla to have some great skirmishes.
The only thing that worries me is, the peasants are revolting (as usual) and I fear they are coming after the Crown/Roi.
Good news, these Peasants are the ‘Brigands du Roi’ and are fighting for the King as part of the Catholic and Royal Army of the Vendee.
They murdered the King, they killed the Priests, now they come for your kids. Fight or be massacred, the story doesn’t have a happy ending…
The name ‘chouan’ does not come from Jean Chouan, which was a ‘nom de guerre’ or nickname – his real family name was Cottereau. In Western France a chouan (‘chat-huant’ or yowling cat) is actually a barn owl, the call of which was imitated by salt smugglers in the woods, using the distinctive call of the bird to communicate at night, while evading the hated ‘gabelle’ or salt tax. The Royalist insurgents used the same distinctive call while ambushing the Republican ‘bleus’ in the woods. Stories of the Chouans are still very much a part of the deeply Catholic regions of Brittany and Normandy today.
I did a video about the Rebellion over on my YouTube Channel
