Dive In! New Starter Sets For AntiMatter Games’ DeepWars
August 11, 2025 by brennon
You can now dive deep into AntiMatter Games' 28mm undersea wargame, DeepWars, with not just a new two-player boxed set but also a selection of Starter Sets for different factions in the game.
Abyssal Doom // DeepWars
We start with Abyssal Doom, the boxed set entry point for two players and a spiritual sequel to their previous set, Sunken Citadel. One player will take on the role of a Breach Team, a band of Fortune Hunters who are looking to reclaim their lost base from the tendrils of the deep. Going up against them, the other player will play as the undead Invaders of the Void who want the base and its ancient technology, drawing it back into their domain.
Abyssal Doom - Contents // DeepWars
This set comes with a narrative campaign featuring eight scenarios and rules for advancing your warbands between each game. You will also find cooperative and solo play wargaming rules within, so you can skip the competitive side of things and see if, together, you can take back the sunken station from the Invaders of the Void.
Games take somewhere between thirty and sixty minutes to play and the rules are modular, so you can make it as easy or as complex a game as you like. It also means that you can revisit the campaign and try it again with more complex rules or as different sides if you're playing competitively.
The world of DeepWars is set within the Uncharted Realms, an alternative version of Earth during the late 17th Century. Pirates and adventurers were able to discover and reverse-engineer technology that allowed them to dive deep into the inky black and plunder the ocean for its treasures.
The contents of Abyssal Doom are also completely compatible with the rest of the DeepWars range, so you can use this as your jumping-off point into more nautical adventures.
DeepWars Warband Starter Sets
If you do want to dive deeper, you can also get your hands on five different Starter Sets for the factions in DeepWars.
Fortune Hunters Starter Set // DeepWars
Each set comes with a 400-point warband for you to get started in the game and 3D printed resin miniatures packed with detail. You will also get all of the Profile Cards for the characters in the set, plus Quickstart Rules, so you can get playing with a friend if you scoop up a couple of sets.
Dark Mariners Starter Set // DeepWars
Ancients of Atalan Starter Set // DeepWars
Each set is unique and gives you a great window into the world of DeepWars. If you've ever wanted to bring an armoured swordfish to the tabletop, then your dreams have now been fulfilled. If you've used Abyssal Doom as your entry point into DeepWars, then you could use some of the miniatures to bolster the Fortune Hunters or go in a completely different direction entirely and start your own campaigns.
Nereids Starter Set // DeepWars
Scaly Horde Starter Set // DeepWars
This showcases the different physical options for diving in that you can get your hands on but if you own a 3D printer and a traditional paper printer, you can also download and print-and-play DeepWars. There are a variety of STL File packs that you can scoop up from AntiMatter Games and more, which you can find HERE.
DeepWars is a truly unique game that not only features ace miniatures but also a great set of rules and mechanics that bring to life the idea of fighting beneath the waves. It is also possibly the easiest of wargames to find terrain for; just raid your local pet store! Get your hands on loads of the fishtank terrain and you'll be sorted very quickly.
Could you be tempted to give DeepWars a go?
