Happy Sunday!
For your next trick, design a game that includes ALL of those rules!!
Holding of until it is completed ?
ah … that means we’re never going to see it then.
There’s nothing wrong with showing work in progress Justin.
Everyone else does it.
Absolutely legendary Indie this week. Goddammit this could get expensive.
Thinking that myself. Even if it wasn’t pre-coloured it would be a good price. The fact that it is pre-coloured makes it an absolute bargain.
My 3 mechanics:
1 Reaction system (like aro in Infinity)
2 I am torn between alternate activation or random activation but I will choose alternate activation.
3 End of phase/round damage application (like in the Battle tech games)
As for the second part of the question. The ones I can think of are already being used in some wargames.
Margrave by Three Sails had a great system for upgrading units during the game when they did heroic or notable actions.
My three favourite mechanics
1) Modifying number of dice rolled rather than the score needed on the dice
2) Area/node movement – anything that does away with rulers
3) Markers that enhance the battlefield – using casualty figures or a broken shield or some of ravens that Ragnarok Miniatures produce.
On the last point. I’ve started doing wargames shows again. I’ve seen some beautifully painted armies involved in a game that has been marred by too many bits of cardboard and acrylic. Seriously, rules-writers, DON’T write rules that will make the game look cr*p.
Happy Sunday COGz an OTTers 👍
That’s a insult to XLBSers Ben 🙆
Sundancer is your man Gerry to help with the video ?!?
Thanks for the button guys. I’m a bit surprised you went for this project given that I’ve hardly started when I have a bunch of projects that are way way further along and have more content- Weird World War, Drowned Earth and Wild West. Ah well, not complaining 🙂
HAPPY SUNDAY..
Good one guy’s 👍
Happy Sunday
@avernos was it Zeo Genesis by any chance?
X-Wing also had a stress mechanic. Difficult manoeuvre makes you stressed.
I really enjoyed the X-Wing 1.0
Even got my wife hooked on it!
There were game nights that I was too tired and was going to skip and stay home but she threw a fit so we went. It was fantastic!!!
yeah the first year was magic. Luke in his X-Wing with Han in the YT-3000 against Vader and a TIE Swarm
Wings of Glory, X-Wing, Sails of Glory and Runewars had the mechanic where you secretly selected your maneuver and then simultaneously revealed them. It was particularly fun with Runewars because the maneuver you chose determined the speed and the order in which units activated.
Arena Rex, Guildball and Star Wars: Shatterpoint all have opposed dice rolls with net success determining how far you get along a combat tree path. It was interesting in that you got choices of damage, conditions and effects in all three games.
I do like games that have a command and control element especially those where different commanders/characters have different effects. Clash of Spears/Katanas has that with different levels of commanders and a high degree of customization of commanders gear.
Very interesting show today, Good to know my game will tick a lot of boxes. But some interesting things to think about too.
Those ladders were from a kit called the Hexagon Construction Set from Pegasus Models. They make a range of sci-fi terrain kits at very good prices.

Great show again this week. Lovely GBs on show. Glad to see some screentime for the unsung hero of our hobby, the Really Useful 9l box. Great job on the organising, well done @gorram
I do wonder if the folks over at Really Useful Boxes know how many they sell to wargamers XD
