Games Workshop Preview Their Warhammer Day 2025 Miniatures
September 16, 2025 by brennon
Warhammer Day is closing in and Games Workshop previewed the commemorative miniatures that will be available in stores and ahead of the date in October via pre-order. We have a new miniature for Warhammer Age of Sigmar (or The Old World) and another for Warhammer 40,000.
Urkhan the Dark Warden // Warhammer Age of Sigmar
We start with the best miniature of the two, Urkhan the Dark Warden. This fellow is an Exalted Hero of Chaos and gives off all of those classic Chaos Warrior vibes that you'd expect. He has a windswept and tattered cloak, a horned helm (or scarred visage) and a fearsome sword that has been blessed with the power of the Chaos gods.
Urkhan the Dark Warden - Details // Warhammer Age of Sigmar
You could easily paint up Urkhan in all manner of different ways. Keep him as an Undivided warrior of the Slaves to Darkness or pledge him to one of the Chaos gods and adorn his armour in red, blue, purple or maybe a sickly green.
That cloak is crying out for a bit of freehand work, perhaps to represent the last vestiges of the man that he was before he pledged himself to the dark gods. I think I'm going to pick this guy up (even though I don't play Slaves to Darkness or Warriors of Chaos) and paint him up in a super Grimdark style.
Space Marines Strike From The Skies
As well as Urkhan, you will also be able to get your hands on a miniature for Warhammer 40,000. In this case, we have a brand new Space Marine Captain who comes with a jump pack, ready to smash into the action from above and send your foes scattering.
Space Marine Captain // Warhammer 40,000
This Captain comes with a thunder hammer and relic shield as standard but you can also give you a chainsword if you prefer and a helmet so he doesn't get shot in the face before he lands. Whilst the miniature has been painted as an Ultramarine here, there's no reason that he has to follow that particular scheme when he hits your painting table.

He seems primed to be a Blood Angel or perhaps a Raven Guard Space Marine Captain, matching the lighting assaults of those particular Chapters. He could also lead your Jump Pack Intercessors for the likes of the White Scars if you were that way inclined.
Whilst not as badass as Urkhan, I'm sure he will be a welcome addition to a Space Marine collection. Games Workshop has mentioned that you'll have to wait for more details on how you can get your hands on these celebratory figures but they will be available for pre-order before Warhammer Day and in stores, both whilst stocks last.
If they are doing pre-orders for the miniatures, we might see enough of these available for people to actually get their hands on them. Fingers crossed the scalpers don't get their first!
Which of the two miniatures do you prefer?

A well-proportioned captain sculpt, with some dynamic movement to it and a nice bit of height. The Chaos lord is looking a bit square for my liking, more of a classic style, but still would likely get both
The article mentions that the captain will be part of the normal Space Marine range, he will just be released at the same time as the Chaos guy:
I think that is important to know for people who are interested in that minature. You don’t have to buy him immeditaley
Yawn. Feels like the ideas machine at GW HQ has broken
