Games Workshop previewed two new Combat Patrols that you'll be able to pick up soon for their 28mm Sci-Fi wargame, Warhammer 40,000. These actually look pretty good, especially considering we've had some lacklustre releases for this introductory mode in the past.

Combat Patrol Harlequins - Warhammer 40K

Combat Patrol: Harlequins // Warhammer 40,000

We start with the Harlequins, the mysterious but deadly Aeldari who weave their own stories behind the scenes of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. This set comes with a six-member Harlequin Troupe, which is backed up by two Skyweavers, a Starweaver and a Voidweaver. Each of these craft come laden with weapons that'll have your enemy running.

You'll also have the Solitaire, who leads the Troupe, eager to face down enemy heroes and claim the glory of having their name written into the next performance. This is a very elite Combat Patrol, which is all about soaring around the battlefield, confusing your opponents and striking where they least expect it.

Death Korps of Krieg

If you prefer your masks to save you from the toxic vapours of the battlefield, then you can also get a Combat Patrol for the Death Korps of Krieg.

Combat Patrol Death Korps of Krieg - Warhammer 40K

Combat Patrol: Death Korps of Krieg // Warhammer 40,000

This set features ten Death Korps troopers who will be holding down objectives alongside a six-member Command Squad. You also get five Death Riders who can rush forward and panic the enemy alongside a full Heavy Weapons Squad for laying down supporting fire.

I think this gives you a really solid starting point for starting a thematic Death Korps army in Warhammer 40,000 with a lot of the core elements you'd need to build up a larger force once you're done with Combat Patrol. The same goes for the Harlequin Troupe. Both sets give you a great jumping-off point for Warhammer 40,000 and you could easily buy two or three of these sets to get lots of core troops to make your army.

As with all of the rules for Combat Patrol, they will be free on the Warhammer Community website and in the App, so you can dive in and play your games without having to dive into a full Codex.

What do you think of these new Combat Patrols?
