Ankh-Morpork by firelock22

Leading the way for this week, we have firelock22, who has been working on some great miniatures inspired by Discworld for use in their games of Guards of Traitor's Toll.

The miniatures by Wargames Atlantic and Grey For Now Games are absolutely nailed on for creating a City Watch-themed set of miniatures that could then be found patrolling the streets of Ankh-Morpork. Guess what, firelock22 was right and the miniatures that they have produced so far are looking fantastic.

firelock22 has already been impressed by the quality of the plastic kits and the options that are available for you to get your hands on. It allows you to make some great figures that represent not only the regular citizenry but also your guards that will be out on patrol. That bucket was also given a bit of extra love and filled with AK gel to get the appropriate water effect.

One of the key things with getting that Ankh-Morpork vibe is to work with the right colour scheme and so we've got some lovely leathers on show here. You just need a warm leather and a dark leather to get across the overall vibe of the City Watch and when some rusted metal for good measure! As you can see, this has already created a fun set of miniatures perfect for Guards of Traitor's Toll.

Deathwatch by foehammer888

Next up, we're looking to the work of foehammer88, who has been continuing their saga of building a superb range of Deathwatch miniatures for their games of Warhammer 40,000.

At the core of everything that foehammer88 has done for this project is the idea that all of the Deathwatch Space Marines should be individuals. They all have their own personality and so each miniature in the collection has been given an extra dose of care and attention in order to make the unique and stand out on the tabletop.

foehammer88 routinely never follows the build instructions and will take bits and bobs from everywhere in order to make these miniatures so they suit their Chapter. They have done a lot of the core Chapters already but more are on the way and foehammer88 would love input from the community on which Chapters they should cover in the future. With around 1000 or more to choose from, there is a lot of work to be done.

It helps that foehammer88 is bloody great at both converting and painting these miniatures. Deathwatch Space Marines should be as unique as this and whilst this is a mammoth task, it's one that should turn out great.

I was particularly taken by this fellow (above), who has been added recently to the Deathwatch project. The big barrel-fed Bolters is a fun touch to get across that "revolver" vibe and I love the helmet with the cowboy hat integrated into it. I can't wait to see how this miniature ends up. Make sure to check out the rest of the project for even more amazing Deathwatch miniatures.

Trench Crusade Terrain by sparkeswillfly

Last but not least, we're looking at the work by sparkeswillfly on a bunch of terrain and more for use with Trench Crusade. There are loads of great miniatures out there but getting together terrain for the game, especially to give off those trench vibes, can be a bit of a task.

Trench Crusade Terrain #1 by sparkeswillfly

All of the terrain that sparkeswillfly has built here has been designed to be modular, so the different terrain sections can be put together in different configurations. They have been crafted out of all of the common materials you'd expect, like foam, little pieces of MDF (coffee stirrers) and corrugated cardboard. This is then all brought together with plenty of basing materials and washes.

The washes used for this particular project included brown, more brown, a bit more brown and some black. All of this goes on very quickly and is incredibly effective as you can see from the results above. This towering cross that forms part of this modular piece has also been designed to be modular and magnetised so you can remove it easily for the purposes of transport.

Loads of fascinating bits have already been done for this project, as well as incidental add-on pieces like some gabions by Renedra. sparkeswillfly has also taken some time to build some great trench bases so their miniatures will fit the surroundings.

This is turning into a great project for those wanting to go down the route of scratchbuilding their terrain for Trench Crusade. You could 3D print a bunch of stuff from various creators but I think there's something perfectly "Trench Crusade" about doing it yourself from all sorts of bits and bobs from around the house.
