Similar to what we've seen with the Battleforces for Warhammer Age of Sigmar, Games Workshop has also previewed the Battleforces for Warhammer 40,000 coming down the pipeline for the Christmas period.

Blissbound Warband - Warhammer 40K

Blissbound Warband // Warhammer 40,000

Leading the way we have the forces of the Emperor's Children, who are led by the fearsome and imposing form of Fulgrim, Daemon Primarch of Slaanesh. He is joined by six of the Flawless Blades and six Noise Marines, so you've got some of the elite core that will end up making up pretty much any Emperor's Children army. Rather than a starting point, the Blissbound Warband would be a good way to add to an existing Emperor's Children army.

Next up, we're changing things up and getting a look at the Cthonian Prospect for the Leagues of Votann.

Diving into this set, you're going to be getting a whole bunch of Squats. The Brôkhyr Iron-master with Ironkin Assistant leads the way alongside the additional three E-COGs. They are then backed up by three Brôkhyr Thunderkyn and two Cthonian Earthshakers, plus ten Cthonian Beserks and a a Kapricus Defender. A Kapricus Defender can also be built as a Kapricus Carrier if you prefer.

This feels like a good option for those starting out with the Leagues of Votann, introducing a lot of both up close and personal and ranged options for this relatively new army for Warhammer 40,000.

If you'd prefer to go down the monstrous, xenos route, then you can also pick up the monsters of the Crusher Stampede.

Anchoring this force is the Neurotyrant with two Neuroloids, which will act as its synaptic core. Backing it up is one of the best new Tyranid miniatures, the Screamer-Killer, which echoes a classic Tyranid miniature from one of the earliest examples of this Xenos army in Warhammer 40,000.

The set also features a terrifying Tyrannofex, a Haruspex, and a Maleceptor. You also have the option of building the Tyrannofex as the Tervigon and the Haruspex can be an Exocrine if you prefer. Lastly, the Malceptor can also be the Toxicrene. You've got lots of choices here for adding some serious monsters into the mix for your Tyranid armies.

If you'd prefer to be something of a renegade, then you might be tempted to pick up the T'au Empire force, the Farsight Cadre.

Farsight Cadre - Warhammer 40K

Farsight Cadre // Warhammer 40,000

Commander Farsight brings his own brand of warfare to the tabletop, backed up by a suite of Battlesuits armed with an array of technologically advanced weaponry. A Riptide can use its supercharged reactor to power its weaponry, plus a Broadside Battlesuit, which will take down heavy armour from long range. You then have a set of three Crisis Battlesuits, which can be armed to suit one of three different unit types that target specific enemies. A flock of eight Drones then complete the set.

Again, this is very much going to be a good way for you to expand an existing T'au army, I would imagine, especially with some of those larger Battlesuits in the mix as part of this collection.

Turning to Space Marines, we have some more firepower on offer with the Iron Halo Strike Force.

This contingent of Space Marines is led by a traditional Captain, backed up by a set of Company Heroes and five Sternguard Veterans. That should give you a solid set of high-level heroes who can hold their own on the battlefield as part of the bulwark of the Imperium.

This set also comes with five Hellblasters, which can turn your enemies into piles of slag and two Dreadnoughts, which will act as a great firing platform for some heavy weaponry. The Ballistus Dreadnought will be great for clearing out enemy armour and mobs of enemies, whilst the Redemptor Dreadnought can be outfitted to deal with a range of problems. This set will also come with the newly revealed set of Space Marine Heads, which should introduce a lot of customisation options.

The Chaos Space Marines are not to be outdone and they also get themselves a Battleforce in the form of the Hellforged Warband.

Bring together a combined arms approach to warfare, this set is led by a terrifying Lord Discordant mounted on the back of a brutal Helstalker. Equally good in close combat as it is at range, the Lord Discordant is a fairly popular option for a new Chaos Space Marine army.

You also have some good ranged options backing up this HQ choice with two mutated Obliterators and five Havocs armed with an assortment of different weapons. There is also a Venom Crawler, which can slice and dice its way through the enemy. Lastly, you have a set of ten regular Chaos Space Marine Legionaries who can be mounted in the back of a Chaos Rhino. Get to the objective in one place!

Last but not least, we have the Krieg Siege Platoon, which could be a great next step from that new Combat Patrol that we saw recently for the Death Korps of Krieg.

Krieg Siege Platoon // Warhammer 40,000

This set is led by a Lord Commissar and a full Krieg Command Squad who will make sure that the rest of your Astra Militarum troops hold the line in the face of terrifying enemies. That line might be thin but the twenty Death Korps of Krieg have been through worse and will die valiantly in service of the Imperium.

Even more grizzled soldiers, the Combat Engineers, make up part of this army. They range ahead of the main army as trench fighters, sappers and close-quarters specialists. Dog the enemy and nip at their heels before they clash with the front lines. Lastly, you also have two Artillery Teams, which can be armed with the likes of the heavy mortar, siege cannon, heavy quad launcher or rocket launchers.

Could you be tempted by one of these Warhammer 40,000 Battleforces as either a good start or an expansion to an army?
