Konflikt '47 by MechaWhalestorm

Starting this week's Community Spotlight, we're checking out the work of MechaWhalestorm (what a username) who has been bitten by the bug of Konflikt '47 and so has been working through some of the miniatures from the new edition Starter Set.

Konflikt 47 #1 by MechaWhalestorm

I was particularly taken by their work on the Fireflies that will be joining the fighting alongside the United States in games of Konflikt '47. It was super cool to see them in a different colour scheme, going for something distinctly more Pulpy in style. This has been designed to represent the 107th Infantry Regiment from New York and that meant that a certain heroic individual had to lead them!

The Fireflies are therefore started and MechaWhalestorm welcomed NCO Roger Stevens and Private Barney Buckley into the mix.

Konflikt 47 #2 by MechaWhalestorm

I think the scheme works really well and helps to sell that more action-packed nature of Konflikt '47 and, therefore, what sets it apart from games like Bolt Action. MechaWhalestorm has done some sterling work on the shield for Stevens and you can actually see the ace American star if you go and check out more images from the Project linked above.

As well as working their way through the Americans, MechaWhalestorm has also been working out a scheme for the Axis side of the conflict. You can see some of the work on their Stahltruppen below.

Konflikt 47 #3 by MechaWhalestorm

MechaWhalestorm had been having some trouble deciding on a scheme for these miniatures and the Axis in general. They eventually settled on black and yellow, which I think looks excellent and is very striking. It will make them look super cool and decidedly evil on the tabletop!

More work will soon be going into the Vogelspinne and I can't wait to see MechaWhalestorm finally take to the table with both armies to play some games.

hutch-Badge

Muskets & Tomahawks by hutch

Next up, we're checking out a bit of a battle report from hutch who most recently got stuck into their first game of Muskets & Tomahawks, an excellent set of wargaming rules from the folks at Studio Tomahawk.

Muskets & Tomahawks #1 by hutch

hutch took some glorious photos of the action unfolding on the tabletop and a skirmish between the British and the French alongside some Native American allies. What was nice about this battle report is that hutch took the time to get some names into the equation for some of the characters and there's a nice narrative build up to the action as it unfolded.

Muskets & Tomahawks #2 by hutch

hutch had a blast with the game and they thanked Craig Andrews for supplying all of the terrain and the miniatures as well as running them through their first game. They played an evacuation mission where they had to escort civilians off the board whilst also dealing with the enemy who were attacking!

Muskets & Tomahawks #3 by hutch

The main takeaway from the game was that hutch enjoyed it (even if he was told that a rescue mission might go wrong thanks to past mistakes!) and that they will be playing more of Muskets & Tomahawks in the future. It was great to see the lovely photography and someone enjoying a demo so much that they're going to be diving in deeper.

Make sure to go and check out the project from hutch where they have been playing lots of other games, including a fateful encounter in Congo.

Legion of the Damned by kamaron

Last but not least, we're going to be having a look at some more Oldhammer from the community and kamaron, who has been looking at bringing some Legion of the Damned back to the tabletop in all of their fiery, undead (maybe?) glory.

Legion of the Damned #1 by kamaron

OnePageRules is calling kamaron and so they are using this as an excuse to assemble and paint as much of their Oldhammer Legion of the Damned army as they can. The idea is that they will then use this army to play games of OPR but also Warhammer 40,000 2nd Edition. This comes with the cast-iron guarantee that "in the grim darkness of the far future, there is only green grass!"

Legion of the Damned #2 by kamaron

This Legion of the Damned force will be run as Dark Angels and will make use of classic Space Marines without a single Primaris amongst the lot of them. The aim of the project is to it will make good use of proper, Oldhammer miniatures with the inclusion of a 5th Edition plastic Dreadnought and some other kitbash and conversion bitz. Otherwise, it's going to be honest-to-emperor Oldhammer. Glorious.

I already really like some of the painting that we've seen from kamaron for this project. The Legion of the Damned might be edgy but they are super cool and they were always an army that I was particularly excited about. I could never afford them, though, as they were all metal!

Legion of the Damned #3 by kamaron

Currently, these miniatures featured here are part of kamaron's test schemes for the Legion of the Damned. They make use of AK’s Grim Brown rather than straight black which I think is a good choice. It works well as black can, as kamaron points out, end with a lack of contrast. The little details are also looking great with all of the flames and skulls unlocking all sorts of nostalgic memories for me. A brilliant project that I can't wait to see finished.

What Are You Painting Right Now?

Every week, we’re absolutely blown away by the incredible topics that are put into the Projects; it’s getting more difficult to choose Community Spotlights! We love your work and we hope to see a lot more of it in the future!

If you fancy getting your hobby fingers out and showing off your newest paint job, terrain piece or even greatest gaming achievement, we want to know about it! We don’t mind if you’re a newcomer to painting or a veteran of the brush, everything you do inspires us to create more and more content together!

What do you think of the entries this week?
