Looks like a Kroot box late in the game for poor @lloyd. If only they had put it together earlier he may have bought it to turn around and shelve in one of his many bins

So you literally taken my exact stance and most vocal opinion about lookalike prints.
YES, if artists actually designed their own stuff For example like warp miniatures. The miniature fantasy and sci-fi world would be in a better place.

My pledge is to finish my Oathmark goblin slaves and also finish my draft invitations for my local club for a seven week campaign of blood legacy frostgrave.
Ok , deep dive and I’ll try to keep it neutral toned.
The market is not over saturated. Its simply a lot more choice of options. 3d printing has opened small doors but not everyone has…[Read more]

On the point about fantasy and sci-fi being tied to a single manufacturer, I think that’s largely a GW hang-up. I’ll admit I’m definitely prone to it myself. A universe’s aesthetic matters a lot to me. I’m not going to drop a bunch of Space Marines into a game of Infinity and call them PanO, and I’m not going to stick 10mm Enforcers on the table a…[Read more]

Given the issues of IP it is probably the most recent one or nothing.
I wouldn’t be so sure about that. IP owners could licence out the right to make a game based on the books. So you’d be free to create your vision of Dune. But I think that is neither here nor there and we’ll be stuck with our imagination. Like in the good old days 😉

What version of Dune?
I’m old so obviously I’m going to prefer the 1984 version. That said for pure visuals the Giger art is the winner. Anything but the made for TV stuff.
Given the issues of IP it is probably the most recent one or nothing. As there isn’t anything out there currently then I guess we are stuck with nothing :/

On that subject anyone out there who wants to make an official Dune line of miniatures?
What version of Dune? 1984 David Lynch, 2021 Denis Villeneuve or the never realised Jodorowsky’s Dune? Too many options!1!1! XD

Why can’t the fictional crowd do so as well ?
@limburger as @sundancer points out IP is a big factor for the specific requirements of many fictional games. That said, I’m old enough to remember when it was very unusual for games companies to be able to get the rights to many IPs. Wargaming was considered too small for the owners of most IP rig…[Read more]
