Steamforged Games is taking pre-orders for a new Epic Encounters pairing for use in your Fantasy roleplaying games. This new set has been designed by Jason Charles Miller and can be used for your Dungeons & Dragons adventures (and beyond).

Glade of the Evil Oak - Steamforged Games

Glade of the Evil Oak // Steamforged Games

We start with the boss box from the new pairing, the Glade of the Evil Oak. Here's some of the background about this monstrous creature from the depths of the forest...

"Deep in the heart of the forest, there is a glade with a solitary tree at its centre. You may picture a sunny scene laced with birdsong. But this is no sunlight-dappled clearing, and the tree is no mere sapling. It is a twisted oak of monstrous proportions. A gnarled hand thrust from the earth, claw-like branches grasping as if to tear down the sky. A tree so corrupted by forces beyond mortal understanding, few who lay eyes on it live to tell the tale. Yet, rumours persist, shaken from shivering leaves and carried on a gloomy breeze to prick at the skin of storytellers hunched around fires — weaving tales of wicked oak that stands sentinel over the abyss, and the souls brave enough to cleave it limb from limb…"

Inside the set, you'll find the towering, earth-shattering boss encounter, the Evil Oak. Within the set, you'll get the miniature itself that comes on a 10mm base, giving you a sense of its size. The miniature is pre-coloured so you don't have to slap some paint on it if you don't want to!

Evil Oak Scale - Steamforged Games

Evil Oak (Scale) // Steamforged Games

As well as the Evil Oak miniature, you will also get a full set of prompts, statistics and lore for you to use when slotting the Evil Oak encounter into your games of Dungeons & Dragons. This can also be used as a climax to the Forest of the Damned encounter, which we'll take a look at later. Slide this encounter into all of your campaigns, especially if your players are wandering through the dark corners of the woods.

Expand Epic Encounters

In the run-up to your boss battle, you'll need some more woodland-based encounters. That's where Forest of the Damned comes in, packed with miniatures for you to use in your D&D campaigns.

Again, we have some more awesome lore for you to sink your teeth into...

"Something moves in the darkness between the trees. You’re not alone in this cursed forest. Branches creek, rough bark scrapes and roots writhe just out of sight. Will these wretched creatures find you ready? Spend a short while in this forest and your gut will warn you even where your good sense fails. A sense of unspeakable wrongness hangs thick as the canopy overhead, trailing tendrils that tug ancestral memories from your bones. The twigs snapping beneath your feet are not twigs. And the prickling at the back of your neck is not from the cold."

This set comes with everything you need to run your encounters in the depths of the Forest of the Damned. You will get all of the fully-statted monsters, covered by seventeen miniatures within the set. You will also find the double-sided battle map, which allows you to set up your encounters in minutes. There are also story hooks, tips and tricks that are all compatible with Dungeons & Dragons.

Forest of the Damned Miniatures - Steamforged Games

The miniatures look great and there's no real reason why these have to be used for your Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying adventures. The mixture of miniatures would be great for creating a range of units to use in your Fantasy skirmish games. They would also be great creatures to feature in your Fantasy armies, especially those which are open to you using all manner of different miniatures.
