Ragnarok Sculpt A New Arthurian Anglo-Saxon Invasion
February 2, 2026 by brennon
Colin Patten of Ragnarok Miniatures is turning his attention from fantastical armies to the Arthurian era and another age of invasions. A new range of 28mm Anglo-Saxons is going to be crossing stormy seas to conquer Britain for themselves.
Anglo-Saxon Invasion Teaser // Ragnarok Miniatures
Covering the period of 450-550AD, this range will cover the Anglo-Saxons who would have gone up against Arthur and the remnants of the Roman Empire in Britain. Inspired by Colin's passion for the Arthurian and closeness to Sutton Hoo, it looks like we're going to be getting another nice range of dynamic, metal miniatures.
You'll note some nice touches in the preview already, including the one soldier wearing the full face plate in the likeness of that from Sutton Hoo. It will be neat to see if we get some named characters in this set and how deep down the Arthurian rabbit hole Colin goes!
This will be another range supported by the good folks at Gripping Beast.
What do you think of this initial teaser?

Nice!
These look gorgeous! I’ve not got into this period for miniatures, but am very tempted to pick up a set when they are available.
Should check out the Medbury Arthurian/Dark Age range as well – very nice in a similar style
I got Ragnarok’s Sons of Odin minis when they came out and they were stunning. It’s nice to see them branching out into other time periods. Would love to see them do mid to late Medieval period minis.
I’m not starting Medieval
Ach quit yer gurnin man, you’d love it if you gave it a chance.
I wonder. If Colin is doing the Arthurian period, will he be doing it ‘historical’ or could he be leaned/persuaded on to do Arthur a’la ‘Excalibur’, the movie? I reckon that’s a bit too niche (probably not financially viable) but I’d love to do that final battle of Arthur versu Mordred using super-heavily armoured knights. I’m already hearing Wagner’s Das Gotterdamerung in my head.
I’m liking where you’re going with this – from both the aesthetic and the nostalgic perspectivs.

I meant ‘Excalibur’, obviously 🙂
You can get most of the (not) Excalibur miniatures from Rogue Miniatures, in the Minifigs catalogue through Caliver Books. They certainly have Merlin, Arthur, Mordred and Morgana plus a few other bits. I’m not sure I’d mix them in with these though.
