Dinosaur Vs Dinosaur Combat! Carnivore By Buer Games
March 9, 2026 by brennon
Buer Games are on Gamefound right now with a fantastic-sounding miniatures game that should get all of those childhood neurons firing once more. Everyone loves dinosaurs (right?) and now you can battle alongside your favourites in their game, Carnivore.
Carnivore // Buer Games
Carnivore is a game which can be played solo or with up to four players in skirmishes on the tabletop that take around sixty to 120 minutes to play. There are no humans here; this is a prehistoric landscape in the wake of the meteor that struck the Earth. As dinosaurs fight for survival, they must battle against each other to "eat first and die last".
Carnivore is normally played on a 3x3-foot board but if you're playing a smaller game, you tend to go for a 2x2-foot tabletop. A turn is broken down into Drive, Movement, Fight and Panic. This is a game where everything that happens matters and the clash between two dinosaurs could end up in the aggressor being ripped apart by a cornered defender.
Combat is simple but visceral. Carnivore runs using d10 and simply, you roll a die and add your Fight value against your opponent's Guard. If you lose, your opponent can immediately choose to Retaliate, rolling back against your own Guard! This means that combat can be deadly and you're not safe just by being the aggressor in a situation.
Fights // Carnivore
Carnivore also makes use of facings. Attacking a foe in the front arc means facing that Retaliate action, whereas attacking from the rear might give you access to additional abilities and boons. Each dinosaur in the game has a set of core statistics, and allows you to play without much additional intricacy but you can also add on different abilities. This is where dinosaurs come into their own, acting like you'd expect them to.

Official Miniature & Gameplay Reveal // Carnivore
Gameplay Explained // Carnivore
This is a great set of videos exploring the basics of the game and showing off how it works, should you choose to dive in. If you're a fan of dinosaurs, then you're going to want to dive into this one and get yourself some dinosaur miniatures!
Carnivore's Dinosaur Miniatures
It's great then that Buer Games are offering a range of miniatures for you to buy as part of this Gamefound project. In addition to getting the rules, you can also get miniatures either as STL Files (for home printing) or physical miniatures, printed by Buer Games and the team.
Mesopredator Pledge // Carnivore
There are various pledge levels for you to dive into, which give you access to both carnivores and herbivores. All of the miniatures are around 32mm scale but the game has been made purposefully miniatures-agnostic, so you can play at any scale and just adjust your measurements accordingly.
Megapredator Pledge // Carnivore
All of the miniatures come unpainted if you go down the physical route and are planned as one-piece figures. Some larger dinosaurs might be split into pieces so they can be packaged and sent safely. You'll just need to attach them to their bases and you can get stuck in.
Apex Pledge // Carnivore
The game features a solo mode, which makes good use of the different "prey" in the game. This matches well with the role of herbivores in the game, where they are objective-driven, following their instincts. The thrust of the game will be around the carnivore predators but there are stretch goals for Herbivore, a solo/cooperative survival expansion to the game, where you'll need to defend yourself against a herd of predators.
Buer Games has also got plans for expansions, including flyers like the pterosaurs and the Colossus expansion, which will introduce massive titanic prey like the saurupods. Whatever kind of dinosaurs you like, there is probably a place for them later on down the line should Buer Games get the funding.
You can find out more about the game over on Gamefound HERE. Will your predators get their prey, or will they be outwitted by your opponent who claims the spoils AND your carcass?
Get stuck in and let me know what you think of Carnivore. This might spark a visit to the Early Learning Centre for some toys.

I took one look at the miniatures and thought “That is going to be ridiculously expensive as physical product.”
I was right… almost $500… probably much more once you add shipping.
you could just buy the book…. for 50. and use toy dinos. XD
This is the way… there’s the Drumheller Royal Tyrell Museum not far from me; their gift shop has all the dinos. ALL OF THEM.
Oh, so not an article about the band that predated Type O Negative then? Shame. XD
